Sankt Goar

Last weekend we took advantage of our 4 day weekend and spent it in Sankt (Saint) Goar and other small towns along the Rhine/Mosel River. Almost everywhere you looked you could see a new castle up in the hills.

Inside the caves of Rheinfels Castle. You needed your own candlelight as you got deeper into them.

The town of Rudesheim with gondola lifts!

We made it to the top

Fortress ruins in the bottom of the hills

Typical German beer gardens notice the band and one dancing couple

mmmmmmm

In Koblenz where the the Mosel meets the Rhine. These guys were fighting over who got to play their music in the best spot.

Drove down the Mosel and ended up in Cochem. This photo was taken from the castle on the hill.

East of Holland to Germany!

A few weeks ago we drove over to the east of the Netherlands and visited some small towns like Denekamp, Enschede, Twente and ventured over to Munster, Germany. One highlight was seeing all the Heisterkamp trucks in the town of Oldenzaal!!!

Hmmmm which car do you think is ours?

In Denekamp, enjoying the woods and cherry pie

We came across this make-shift bridge and trusted that we could get across safely. Fortunately we did!

Amsterdam like you've never seen

Last weekend John and I visited friends in Amsterdam Noord (North). Amstedam Noord is only reachable by ferry, across the River IJ, or under a tunnel by car. When John and I first met he lived in this area of Amsterdam, as well. Below are some photos from a long walk we took to the small villages of Amsterdam Noord.

A nice house built up on a little island with lots of kitsch

Power for everyone...

Easter Weekend

Last weekend, for Easter, we visited John's parents in Waalwijk and the next day headed to Breda where the Dutch graphic design museum is. I took lots and lots of photos of the museum, you can check out here. The rest of these photos are on the way to and in Breda. Not photographed was a pancake boat we ate on in Woudrichem. Lekker!

Wow it's been quite some time! But we were lucky to score free tickets to the America vs. Holland soccer match, thanks to Nike!

I somehow coudln't help but take lots of photos of American flags:)

Should this be touching the ground kids?

A tiny bit of New Years in Amsterdam

Christmas Break

If anyone is actually curious out there, we took a trip to Antwerp, Belgium between Christmas and New Years. Unfortunately no diamonds were purchased but plenty of fashion and Orthodox Jews were seen.

Hilights from the trip include: bunnies, bookstore with ancient men inside, ice skating, purses (at the MOMU), policemen smoking on the job and a giant German bratwurst. See below for a photo explanation...

yes, we entered and purchased books from this store.
